About DRF
Our Purpose

The DRF provides an exclusive venue for payment industry peers to meet, learn about and address the unique challenges facing Customer Not Present (CNP) merchants including:

  • Management and optimization of multiple payment types and payment channels
  • Integrating payment processes with complex customer service and fulfillment systems
  • Compliance requirements imposed by regulatory bodies
  • Strategies for handling disputes and fraud
  • New technologies and payments-related products and services

We are an organization created by and committed to serving the employees of merchant organizations that process CNP transactions.  However, representatives of acquirers, card companies and service providers are invited to participate with their merchant customers in DRF activities in order to encourage dialogue between all stakeholders in the CNP arena.

Our Mission

The Direct Response Forum serves Customer Not Present (CNP) professionals by providing members; a venue to meet with industry professionals and build beneficial relationships; vocational training on new initiatives, current trends, payment acceptance and industry best practices to ensure their compliance with industry regulations and their success in managing costs and fraud; and a voice in protecting or changing CNP processes to maximize business opportunities in a rapidly evolving payments industry.

Our History

In 1990 a group of dedicated payment professionals set aside issues of competition and confidentiality to achieve an unprecedented objective. They had a vision of merchants, acquirers and card companies gathering, with a common purpose of improving the payment environment for the benefit of all customer not present merchants.  Today, because of the foresight of these individuals, we meet annually to share knowledge, renew acquaintances and influence change in the payments industry.

Our Leadership

The DRF Board of Directors is responsible for defining strategy, managing the organization's business activities and planning the annual forum. Our all-volunteer board is comprised of two types of members; voting CNP merchant representatives and non-voting advisors who work for associate organizations such as key acquirers, card companies and service providers.

Our merchant board is comprised of up to 12 volunteers who serve up to three, 3-year terms.  Merchant board members are elected by merchant attendees at the annual forum via ballot. Once elected, each director has voting privileges on motions.  Associate members have no voting privileges, but they contribute valuable knowledge and insights, serving as the pulse of the CNP industry and providing access to industry experts.  The DRF also employs a part-time Executive Director who oversees operational activities of the organization.
